Report from the road
Friday, July 31st, 2009Crihs made the questionable decision to do the Level 42 ride, south route, on a track bike. Although the ride is supported, there’s no way I would do it that way.
Say hello for me if you see him.

Last Friday the 17th after work, five of us caught the China Town bus (myself barely making it) to Philly for the Rocky Race. Like most bicycle races, this one was heavy on the cheaters. However, cheating in alleycats is completely acceptable, in fact, it is expected, but only so long as you don’t get caught. This was a lesson hard learned for not only the first place team, but the first place girls team as well. And so, TJ & Marco became the first place overall team for the second year in a row and Heather and Dagga took first girls for NYC. Dwain and I held down a respectable second place as well as first out of town team. The parties were a letdown but the late night cheesesteaks and milkshakes made up for it.
Oh yeah, Eva was there too:
Thanks to Demon Cats for awesome photos.
I’m more than a little late with this, but my excuse is that these pics were shot on film and I take forever to get that shit developed.
I can’t remember what this ticket was for, but they spelled his name wrong and had the wrong address, so I think it worked out.

More new friends – Houston in the place.

People will argue forever about where and when track bikes first took to the streets, but it’s beyond dispute that the first professionally-done track bike video came from San Francisco. So I’m super stoked with a decent amount of trepidation mixed in that the BFF teaser is in San Francisco’s Saturday program 7. Lucas Brunelle’s and Cinecycle’s latest are in the same program, so it’s guaranteed awesome. Empire is at the top of the schedule, so get there on time. And buy tickets in advance!
This is what the other Empire looks like above San Francisco.
I know I’m a few days late on posting this, but Ray Jones has been coming out to the Peel Sessions for over a year now taking pictures and interviewing people. Two weeks ago, he came by and did an audio interview at my apartment. When I woke up Saturday morning, I was stoked to see the piece had been published! Thanks so much Ray and the NYTimes!
You can read the article here and watch the audio slideshow here!
Peel Sessions last night ruled. After making a bank out of some palettes and plywood, Wonka made a massive wedge. We then proceeded to kill it. Wonka 180′d and 3 hopped it and almost pulled a tuck-no-hand! Big up Andy T for the pics!
East Coast!
Now, in the Twin Cities. Well, one of the twins. The Bicycle Film Festival will be in Minneapolis this week, and the new BFF Empire teaser will be in the 9PM program.
After a warm welcome on friendly territory, the new Bicycle Film Festival-only Empire teaser is beginning its trip around the world.
The entire program at the Bicycle Film Festival in Pittsburgh looks like a blast. And you can buy tickets online for the Friday program with Empire. So go!
